The Develoment of Small- and Sizad Firms through the Improvment of Cooperation Systems
  • - Jung Key Sook (Keimyung University)
[Abstract]
One of the major concern in Korea has been the increasing concentration of economic power in the hands of big and monopolistic cooporations. They have expanded disprotionately, extending their business even to areas where small-and medium-sized firms could perform more efficietly. During the decade 1970's we have not experienced suffering from the recession and poor progress of export like todays.
The small-and medium-sized firms should cooperate against the big and monopolistic corporations to protect their economic interest. They generally produce competitive products, and then their products easily are confronted with the reduction of prices, dumping, and "market failure".
To overcome, "market tailwe", first, they should have the right of cartel formaiton through cooperation systems. Second, they should adopt the commodity differentiation policy to develope new products to be possible by improving the hard ware systems and soft ware systems of production. The improvement or production systems easily will be accomplished by cooperation systems.
I assert that current "Small-and Medium-Sized Firm Cooperation Act" of Korea is amended and new cooperation act for small-and medium-sized firms like "Act about Small-and Medium-Sized Firm Group Organization" of Japan should be enacted.
To introduce the role of cooperation of Japan. I compare Daegu-Kyung-book Silk & Synthetic Weaving Industrial Cooperation with Fukui Prefecture Synthetic Weaving Cooperation for structual Improvement on-corn concerning the article, function. and financial situations.
