A Comparative Study of Technology Mix with Knowledge Network Organization ?based on enlarging the concept of X-inefficiency -
  • - Lee Jae Kyoo (Daegu University)
[Abstract]
Instead of capital and labor, knowledge becomes the main production factor.
That means we are entering into knowledge society. In knowledge society, corporate must on the one hand enhance it's core competence, and on the other hand outsource the weak area. And it purchases what it has not from outside. Or it makes a network. So corporate can reduce the degree of x-inefficiency. Likewise, Technology Mix can be used to lower x-inefficiency through using knowledge of others.
In this point, the Technology Mix of Medium and Small business developed in Japan 30 years ago can be considered as one of network organizations in knowledge society. But the original Technology Mix was based on and came out from industrial society in 1970s. So in many cases, it does not match with the corporates whose main resource is knowledge.
The purpose of this study is to develop the Technology Mix as knowledge based network organization for medium and small business of Korea.

  • - Park Kyung Yeol (Dongshin University)
[Abstract]
Korean die & mould industries have been made up its technology competitiveness.
What factors make Korean die & mould industries so competitive? On this study, I tried to analyze these factors that have been helping Korean die & mould industry to improve their technology competitiveness. The questionnaire for this study was made on 68 Die & Mould industries' administrators in Kyung-In area.
The summary of this study is as follows.
First, Korea has acquired a high-level technology and an advanced production equipment, centering around NC machine tool, CAD, CAM. And it also has developed and accumulated its skill to manage these a high technology and an advanced production equipment. There are the connected industries with die & mould. Such as basic materials industries, machine tool industries and supporting industries. In Korea, these connected industries have been developed highly and have had great influence on developing die & mould industry.
Secondly, Korean die & mould industries have gotten to more and more cost-based advantage and production efficiency for the last 10 years, but they have not invested positively in production differentiation strategies. These days production efficiencies in China & Southeast Asia are increasing more and more. In these situation differentiation strategies became one of the most important factors so as to secure competitive advantages.
Third, as die & mould firms, of which employees are under 20, have been accumulated their technologies, die & mould industries still keeping their technology competitiveness.

  • - Kwang Ro Lee (Konkuk University)
  • - Sung Ju Moon (Konkuk University)
[Abstract]
This paper examines the impact of the venture supporting policies by government on the value and bankruptcy of KOSDAQ venture companies. The analysis data are based on the period from the end of 1998 to the early of 1999.
For this study, the option models are applied to estimate both the 'bubbles' of venture's firm value and bankruptcy risk probability of venture companies.
We find that, after the research period, the 'bubbles' have been severe. However, the financing by venture capital have made the bankruptcy risk lower, specifically in 2000 year, than financing by debt earlier. It may imply that the government supporting policies to venture companies can provoke the venture's 'bubbles', and those policies also can become an important role to reduce unexpected bankruptcy probability of venture companies.
In addition, the research found that there were not significant differences between 'bubbles' and bankruptcy risk of ventures in accordance with the level of earning power model, spending the R&D cost, attaining industrial properties.

The organization and organization structure of each enterprise can be separated in its process organization, structure organization and computer system. The process organization contains the information processing functions with all object types being input or output. The structure organization constitute the structure and relationships between users and organizational units. and the computer system can be comprehended as a system of systems forming the information technological intrastructure of the user organization. But the classical approach of organization structure analysis put the main emphasis on the analysis of data and functions. This paper is covered by the process organization. The integrated analysis and modeling of process organization, structure organization and computer system permits the identification of defects, which is not supported by the methods of classical organization structure analysis.

Value-Relevance of Intangible Assets in KOSDAK Market
  • - Jeon Sung Il (SungKyunKwan University)
[Abstract]
The KOSDAQ market started in July, 1996 in order that small and venture firms can finance money from outside investors. Due to Korea government's driving policies as well as cyber trading systems, it has grown remarkably. This study sampled 751 companies listed on the KOSDAQ respectively in 1998 and 2000, of which fiscal year end in December.
Based on the Feltham and Ohlson(1995)'s accounting-based valuation theory, I have derived some empirical models and applied data to them. The empirical models include not only traditional valuation factors, such as book values and earnings of firms, but also R&D expenditures and advertising expenses.
