  • - Sang-Youn Lee (Sungkonghoe University)
[Abstract]
In this study, using signaling theory, we examine how social enterprises send signals to social investors to acquire financial resource. In detail, we examine the influence of socio-economic legitimacy signals of social enterprises on acquiring social lending using a sample of 106 enterprises from the loan application book of H Social Investment(HSI), the Social Investment Fund of S City Government, for the period of 2015~2016. HSI¡¯s intensive due diligence requires a full set of application documents from the loan seeking social enterprises and includes on-site interviews with the CEO and sometimes with other key utives. During the due diligence process, the lender receives and interprets various signals from the applicants. This study tested several hypotheses using a binary logistic regression model and found that the validity of the
business plans has statistically significant influence on acquiring the social lending and that CEO¡¯s social entrepreneurship, organizational governance and firm¡¯s pursuit of public benefits are positively related to social lending, but that CEO¡¯s management capability is statistically insignificant for acquiring social lending.

Does Isomorphism Provide Benefits to Chinese IPOs Going Public in the U.S.?
  • - Sang-Youn Lee (Sungkonghoe University)
  • - Chang Gue Lim (Sungkonghoe University)
[Abstract]
In this study, we investigate whether isomorphism provide benefits to Chinese firms going public in the U.S. stock market. Institutional theory argues that those firms that conform to normal expectations will attain benefits in the market. In particular, this legitimacy through isomorphism is critical for firms undergoing an initial public offering(IPO) as these firms try to establish their credibility in the market. We argue that Chinese IPO firms that exhibit stronger isomorphism to the characteristics of U.S. domestic IPO firms will attain higher valuation from the investors. We examine two types of isomorphism,
board capital isomorphism and IPO process isomorphism, in a sample of 153 Chinese firms going through an IPO in the U.S. We find that although board capital isomorphism has no significant effect on the Chinese IPO performance, IPO process isomorphism provides benefits to Chinese IPO firms. Theoretically, not all isomorphic behaviors of foreign firms are beneficial to performance even though institutional pressure may motivate several isomorphic behaviors.

The data used in the empirical analysis of this study was constructed using the KIS-VALUE database provided by NICE credit evaluation information.
The non-financial business excluding financial business was classified into eight years from 2008 to 2015 after the financial crisis The results of the analysis show that technology investment and human investment have a positive effect on employment growth of firms, whereas capital investment has a statistically significant negative effect on corporate employment growth.

The Determinants of Entrepreneurship in the Relation of Win-Win suppliers: Differential Psychology Approach
  • - Chong Ook Rhee (Seoul Women¡¯s University)
[Abstract]
Although there are many studies on the definition of entrepreneurship in Korea, this study is the first empirical analysis of the characteristics of entrepreneurs in Korea. The empirical analysis of the characteristics of entrepreneurial personality that determines entrepreneurship of small and medium enterprises in the supply chain of Korea East-West Power Co. shows four interesting results. First, 'enthusiasm' in (Hypothesis1) has many statistically significant models, but since the estimation coefficient is negative, enthusiasm decreases if enthusiasm is high. Second, When entrepreneurial personality
traits are added as control variables, "enthusiasm" is statistically significant, and the sign of the coefficient of estimation is still negative. Third, the system of communication between company and supplier is statistically in significant in determining entrepreneurship, but the activity variable in which communication between large companies and suppliers is active is statistically significant, so cooperation and communication of (hypothesis 2) is very important in determining entrepreneurship. This suggests that no matter how well the system works, there is no success unless the system is actively
used. In addition, it shows that behavior is more important than structure, and shows that entrepreneurial personality characteristics that succeeded in the era of 4th Industrial Revolution, where cooperation between companies is becoming important, are already implemented in entrepreneurship of win-win cooperation partners. Fourth, while entrepreneurs'
activities to prepare for future uncertainties have a statistically significant effect on exertion of entrepreneurship, the variables of overseas market entry have not been statistically significant.
